HSN September 8th Giveaway 1 and Lovely Layers Tutorial

Hi!

We hope you enjoyed our first of five sneak peeks for our return to HSN on September 8th.  We’re excited to be able to give away all of our brand new products to our friends here on the blog! Starting with the first of five winners… drumroll please…

Kathy Schenck! Congratulations! We’ll be sending you the Spooky Glitter Papers, Spiders & Specters Dies and Baubles & Bells embossing folders. Enjoy!

Now, by popular request, we’re going to give you a quick tutorial on the new Lovely Layers Cricut cartridge. If you have additional questions about this cartridge feel free to post them below- we will do our very best to get them all answered!

Our most frequently asked question has been about the order of the card layers. We ungrouped each card design in the 5×7 size and separated the layers in order to give you a better visual.

Once you cut out all the layers of your card, you will want to assemble them from right to left starting with the plain card base.  Stack each layer on the right side of the card base as shown here:

This cartridge also includes sentiments for writing that you can add to the top layer of your card on the bar provided. To add a sentiment:

  • Select the entire card and click “Ungroup” in the Layers palette. Or, right click the card and select “Ungroup”
  • Insert the sentiment of your choice, re-size to fit the white bar provided on the card (4.75” wide) and place over the bar.  Tip: If your sentiment jumps to the back of your canvas for some reason, click “arrange” at the top of Design Space and move it to the front
  • Holding the Shift Key, select the card layer and sentiment together
  • From the Layers palette, select “attach.” Now the top layer of your card will cut and write in one step!

The other larger sentiments on this cartridge can be cut and written separately and then attached to your card as embellishments. They can be any size you’d like.

That’s all for today. We’ll see you back here on Tuesday for more sneak peeks!

Mark your calendar for Tuesday, September 8th at 7 a.m., 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. Today we’ll preview 3 of the 15 brand new items that will be available during this amazing visit, and thought we’d kick off with a few of our favorite festive things…

First we’ve got a new set of sparkly cardstock called Spooky Glitter Paper. This collection includes 24 sheets of 12×12 glittered cardstock in a fun palette of orange, black, gold, purple and white. It will have all of your fall projects looking fabulously festive! These emboss and die cut beautifully, too.

Our last sneak peek today has us in the Christmas spirit a few months early! The Baubles and Bells Embossing Folders feature 12 folders and borders adorned with presents, bells, bows, medallions, ornaments and holly. These may look familiar if you purchased our set of 24 Embossing folders on HSN last October- it’s the holiday portion of that collection. The results are as exciting as Christmas morning every single time!
